The most famous traders tend to have been around a while, and although they may still be worth watching, are there any younger traders to keep an eye on?

Here we’ve picked a selection of 4 young traders who we think are worth keeping an eye on over the next couple of years.

Laura Wong Hon Chan

Laura Wong Hon Chan is an interest rate options trader, who is currently a director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York.

She was born in Baie du Tombeau, Mauritius, and grew up on the island. She is billingual, speaking both English and French fluently.

She studied at Lafayette College, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts/Science in mathematics and economics, graduating in 2012.

While vice president in 2018, she succeeded in increasing the exotics desks at Merrill Lynch Bank of America by 40%.

As a director since 2020, she works with hedge funds, corporate clients and asset managers. Her reponsibilities include risk management for a variety of derivatives, including structured swaps and vanilla options.

Her specialisms include interest rates, fixed income, macroeconomics, trading and derivatives.

During an interview with her old college, Laura mentioned that she would love to work in the fixed income currencies and commodities division. She would like to continue to work in the execution of trades, but also move into the business development and strategy areas of the finance industry.

,Jordan Zarrilli

Jordan Zarrilli is an equities derivatives trader at Goldman Sachs.

From 2007 to 2011, Jordan Zarrilli attended the University of Pennsylvannia, where she studied Systems Science and Engineering. She graduated in 2011 with a BSE (Bachelor of Science and Engineering).

After graduating in 2011, Zarrilli started work at UBS Investment bank as an associate equity derivatives trader until her move to Goldman Sachs in 2015.

Starting as an equity derivatives trader, Zarrilli became vice president of the equity derivatives desk in 2016. Her responsibilities include managing risk on the equity derivatives desk for both consumer companies and financials.

Anjelo Austria

Anjelo Austria is a senior analyst at Center Lake Capital, New York.

Anjelo Austria studied for a Bachelor of Arts/Science at Darmouth College. He majored in economics and sociology, and minored in government.

Before joining Center Lake Capital, Anjelo Austria was an equity research associate at Morgan Stanley, specialising in enterprise software. Here he worked in Keith Weiss’s software equity research team.

Center Lake Capital is a hedge fund specialisin in software stocks. The fund returned 76% in 2018, and in 2019, it had $350 million under management.

Since its founding in 2014, Center Lake Capital has compounded at about 24% net of fees.

The fund is run by Adam Parker, and has a large focus on the software sector. Mid-cap enterprise software providers are particularlt attractive to the fund, because they have high growth potential, high gross margins and low capital expenditures.

Big winners have included investments in Coupa Software, a 150% gain by software maker Okta, and a 182% surge in software company MongoDB.

Jesse Reinherz

Jesse Reinherz is a portfolio manager and CIO at Stellwagen Capital Management, a Millenium platform company, in New York.

He studied economics and mathematics at Boston University, garduating with a Bachelor’s degree, with distinction, in 2012.

On graduating, Jesse Reinherz joined Stifel Financial Corp as an equities analyst.

He then, in 2014, founded family office Alexander Road Capital, along with Jonathan Cheng. Cheng was previously a portfolio manager at Moore Capital. Alexander Road Capital was backed by David Sackler's New York-based family office, Summer Road, and focussed on long and short investments in the media, technology, retail and consumer industries.

In 2015, Jesse Reinherz became a senior investment analyst at Moore Capital Management in New York.

On moving to Millenium Management in 2017, Jesse Reinherz became one of the youngest’s portfolio manager’s in the firm’s history. Founded in 1989, Millenium now manages more than $58 billion (at time of writing, in 2022).

He focusses on long and short opportunities in global consumer and technology stocks, and is CIO of the Millenium platform company Stellwagen Capital Management.
